Women Peace and Security Australian WPS Coalition

In 2023, the Australian Civil Society Coalition on Women, Peace and Security (the “Coalition”) brought together government implementing agencies and civil society, including women’s rights organisations, WPS experts and advocates, to discuss opportunities and challenges in driving implementation of Australia’s Second National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security 2021–2031 (WPS NAP).

Consultation with, and the leadership of, women and gender diverse people is a fundamental underpinning of the WPS agenda. Action to secure peace and security is strengthened when it draws from diverse knowledge, perspectives, and experiences, and the Australian Government has explicitly committed to support women and girls’ capacity to speak out, be heard, innovate, and drive change.
