On 7 March, ACMC staff presented to the Joint Civil-Military Staff Planning Course (JCSPC) on interagency coordination and humanitarian engagement during crisis response.
JCSPC is the ADF’s primary training course for civil-military operations staff officers. Course participants included personnel from Defence, DFAT, AFP, and partner nations. ACMC’s Director International and Domestic Engagement, Deahne Turnbull, provided an overview of civil-military engagement in the whole-of-Government operating context. ACMC’s civil society adviser Jules Frost gave participants a deeper understanding of the humanitarian system and Michael Ots covered Australia’s national emergency management arrangements and Defence Aid to the Civil Community (DACC). ACMC also facilitated an interagency panel discussion on coordination in response to Cyclone Harold in Fiji.
