ACMC highlighted its efforts to build awareness and dialogue on Protection of Civilians at the 2025 ACFID Annual Conference in Canberra. The conference brought together hundreds of representatives from Australian and international NGOs and humanitarian organisations to share insights on emerging trends and challenges in international development under the theme “Driving transformation in development and humanitarian action”. ACMC Director Partnerships and Preparedness, Peter Giugni joined a panel discussion focussed on Protection of Civilians in the maritime domain, building on ACMC’s two-day POC training seminar earlier in the week. Engagement between civil society and the military is key to protecting civilians and supporting vulnerable communities in crisis. ACMC’s participation at the conference reflects our well-established and strong working relationship with ACFID. An ACFID Humanitarian Advisor is posted to ACMC.
