Australia hosts Cambodia's Defence White Paper Team

As part of an official visit organised by the International Policy Division, the ACMC was honoured to host the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) White Paper Team.

The Team, including MAJGEN Sin Sokha, LTCOL Sam Sophea, LTCOL Bun Eng Piseth, were escorted by GPCAPT Mark Hinchcliffe (Australian Defence Attaché Phnom Penh) and Mr Sidney HioeInternational Policy Division. The delegation was on a fact finding mission to learn about Australia’s White Paper process, so to inform the development of the next Cambodian Defence White Paper.

The team from ACMC included Executive Director Alan Ryan, COL Jim Burns and  Ms Amanda Coghlan , who outlined ACMC’s role and responsibilities, and identified where those roles may impact and influence Whole of Government requirements in the context of an Australian Defence White Paper.

Tour hosts International Policy Division said:

“The opportunity for the Cambodian [delegation] to learn about the White Paper process in Australia, for their Defence White Paper, has proven to be a valuable experience for which we have received very positive feedback.”

ACMC emphasised the “the importance of stakeholders’ engagement and influence in the process”, which was noted as a key takeaway from the briefing.
