ACMC has hosted a visit by the Centre for Excellence in Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance (CFE DMHA) Director Joseph D. Martin, which focussed on enhancing our already strong relationship.
Mr Martin’s visit featured a range of discussions with Australian government agencies (including the Department of Defence, National Emergency Management Agency, Bureau of Meteorology and the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water) and civil society representatives, with a particular emphasis on climate and security in the Pacific.
On Friday 12 July 2024, ACMC Executive Director Nicola Rosenblum and Mr. Martin signed a Memorandum of Understanding which will enhance our working relationship in research, coordination and capacity building in the Pacific and South East Asia and staff training.
ACMC and CFE DMHA are the co-secretariat of the Regional Consultative Group on Humanitarian Civil-Military Coordination for Asia and the Pacific (RCG), along with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
