The Australian Civil-Military Centre (ACMC), United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN OCHA) and the US Centre for Excellence in Disaster Management hosted the 2022 mid-term consultation of the Regional Consultative Group (RCG) on Civil-Military Coordination in the Asia-Pacific region. The online gathering saw military, police, civil society and academic practitioners came together to provide updates on preparedness planning and to share information on humanitarian and disaster response (HADR).
Australia was represented by ACMC’s Acting Executive Director, Ms Angie Fitzsimons, ACMC Directors and Advisors alongside officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Australian Federal Police.
The RCG feeds into the Global Consultative Group on Humanitarian Civil-Military Coordination facilitated annually in Geneva.
Together with UN OCHA and the US Centre for Excellence in Disaster Management ACMC serves as co-Secretariat for the RCG.
