ACMC joined attendees from 24 Pacific island jurisdictions for the Eighth Joint Heads of Pacific Security (JHoPS) meeting in Brisbane on 28-30 April 2026. Attendees included heads of police, military, customs and immigration agencies and discussions focused on interoperability and operational responses to regional security challenges.
ACMC’s Executive Director, Nicola Rosenblum, led a tabletop exercise on disaster response for attendees. The earthquake scenario demonstrated to participants that the region must have the right initiatives in place to respond to shared challenges, especially when regional security increases in complexity, and climate-induced disasters become more frequent.
